The Right Way to Juggle 2 Balls with 2 Hands

Getting Started: What You Need

All you need to begin is:

Two balls of equal size and weight (beanbags, juggling balls, or tennis balls work best).

Step-by-Step Guide to Juggling 2 Balls with 2 Hands

1. Start with 1 Ball:

  • Hold one ball in your dominant hand (the hand you write with).

  • Start with your feet shoulder-width apart, and your elbows close to your sides.

  • With a scooping motion, throw the ball from hand to hand, aiming for it to peak around eye level.

  • Get comfortable with the throw with both hands, making sure you aren’t having to reach for the ball or move your feet to catch it

2. Add the 2nd Ball:

  • Hold one ball in each hand.

  • Toss the ball in your dominant hand (the hand you write with) to your opposite hand in an arc that peaks around eye level.

  • Once the first ball reaches its peak, toss the 2nd ball with your other hand, aiming for it to go the same height as the first throw. Then catch the first ball in that hand. Do not pass the ball to your other hand, make sure both hands make a throw.

  • Catch the second ball in the hand that made the first throw.

  • In between each attempt, make sure you reset your positioning and ensure good form.

  • 3. Starting with the opposite hand:

    • Throw the ball starting with the opposite hand that you started with in step 2. Once this ball reaches its peak, throw the second ball with your dominant hand.

    • Catch the first ball thrown, followed by the second. Make sure they are not landing at the same time (if they are, your 2nd throw is too low).

    • Aim for consistent height and timing.

    4. Bonus Tips:

    • Practice each step until it feels natural.

    • Try to keep your focus on the balls’ arcs rather than your hands.

    • Take breaks if you feel you are not making progress.

    Tips for Success

    • Stay Relaxed: Tension can make your throws inconsistent. Keep your shoulders and hands loose in a comfortable position.

    • Focus on the height of your throws: Make sure your second throw peaks around the same height as your first throw

    • Be Patient: Dropping balls is part of the learning process. Embrace mistakes as stepping stones to success.
